Downton Abbey Homework

Watch the clip four times and make notes. Take care! It is slightly different to the clip from the clip we looked at in class. Once you have made your textual analysis notes, then you can write your answer to this question: How is the Representation of Social Class and Status constructed in the clip from TV drama Downton Abbey?

Think about the focus of the question and what your initial ideas might be about the working classes. For example, how is the impresssion that the working classes are overworked/oppressed by the upper classes exemplified? The clip also highlights the division of status within society in 1912 Britain. Remember to consider the question first and then the focus needs to be on naming the techniques accurately, explaining the examples and then discussing the director's intention over how representation is constructed.

Print this out ready to hand in at the start of Thursday's lesson.
