Preliminary Production: Work to do (5th February - 9th February)

You need to have a printed copy of your marketing campaign (there are sign-in sheets in H2 for all students to hand in their work).

This week you need to:
  • Post a copy of your market campaign products to your blog entitled Preliminary Production
  • Complete your evaluation and post this to your blog along alongside your posters
Deadline = 3pm Friday 9th February

Evaluating production work

This preliminary project has been designed to help your develop the key production skills you need at A Level. You need to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of your two poster products, using your own knowledge and understanding of advertising and applying the media framework terminology. You also need to outline the revisions and creative decisions you had to make during the production process and consider if you met the demands of the brief.

Task: Use the reflection questions below to help you evaluate your production work. Post on to your blog alongside your final posters.

  1. Deconstruct your posters commenting on media language (the conventions of advertising posters). How have you managed to blend the fashion genre and the Fair Trade ethos? How successful is your product in addressing the demands of the brief?
  2. How does your advertising campaign appeal to your target audience? Discuss media representation by commenting on your image styling and the mise-en-scene of your image.
  3. Outline the creative decisions you had to make during the production process. How did your final product match your initial plans? What changes were you forced to make?
  4. What production skills did you use and how have you developed these during the production? Be specific about your use of photography and Photoshop editing tools.
  5. Finally, what would you do differently?
