News Revision: UK Newspapers


Task: Ensure you develop your knowledge and understanding of UK newspapers by revising the readership demographics, circulation, political ideology and news values. How is the product being sold to the reader - look closely at media language by deconstructing the headline, language register and key image plus caption.

Look at Monday's front covers from the national newspapers. They all cover the same story and so give you a clear insight into the political ideology and news values of each title. While this table is out of date politically, it gives a clear outline of how different newspapers have varied political alliances, which are still relevant in 2019.


You should have made notes in the lesson about the demographics of the readership, to enable you to analyse the editorial choices made to appeal to each target audience readership. Ensure you have detailed notes about each title in your folder.
